I am a blog junkie. When Google Reader was around, I subscribed to countless different feeds. Now, there is Feedly, aptly named to feed my need for content. As a junkie, I feel like I am a good position to say that there are plenty of quality bloggers out there (and, of course, an exorbitant number of bad ones).
So, why start another blog?
Paul David Tripp explains this better than I could in his book War of Words, "Words are powerful, important, significant. When we speak, it must be with the realization that God has given our words significance. He has ordained for them to be important. Words were significant at Creation and at the Fall. They are significant to redemption. God has given words value."
God created words. He used words. Words are from him. But not all words honour him.
I think Apostle Paul makes a helpful distinction in 1 Corinthians 2:13 (ESV), "And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by
the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual."
This blog is going to be a Christian blog. Not because I am worthy of such a task. I am certainly not worthy! But, God willing, I am hoping to communicate spiritual truths.
So let me set the tone of this blog by echoing what Paul wrote to the church...
"And I, when I came to you, brothers, did not come proclaiming to you the testimony of God with lofty speech or wisdom. For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. And I was with you in weakness and in fear and much trembling, and my speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God. (1 Corinthians 2:1-5)
